Death and Taxes...

Well, I am almost done with my taxes and it has only taken a month!  What a nightmare.  This year I vow to be better organized, and prepared when my dear husband starts after me for tax information.  I feel like I could use a trip to the eye doctor after this.  I am so tired of looking at spreadsheet after spreadsheet and running numbers.  Instead of Death and Taxes it should be Death OR Taxes...JK ;)

Seriously though, this ordeal has really opened my eyes to what we spend our money on and how much for that matter.  It has also forced me to open my shop and stay committed to not holding onto the fabrics that I love.  I am dedicated to adding inventory and premoting the shop on a daily basis.  As much as I love every single piece that I get, it is time to that this foster parent cut the cord :)

If you are looking for a 100% online marketplace to sell your wears...you should check out eCrater.com.  The only thing I recommend if you set up shop here is to keep track of your own inventory because that is the one thing that they lack.  I am all about the free shops.  Don't get me wrong, I love Etsy and Ebay but eCrater has an incredible google hit rate.  I opened the shop on Monday and my link already shows up on page 3 of Google and Bing.  Of course there are 30+ shops that will more than likely be hit before mine but I was truley impressed.

If you find something you like in my shop, mention this post in a email to me and I will give you a 15% discount on your next purchase.

Happy Stitches Everyone :)

Just a quick post today...I am swamped with work! More finds on our way to the curb for postage today. A friend of ours picked us to receive "Willis the Crazy Cow" in our front yard...

Willis is a 4' tall wooden cow that is traveling around our small community. He can be found grasing in yards for a cause! That cause is "30 hour Famine". A youth group from a local church, Alexander City Methodist Church, created the cow as a fundraiser. If you want him removed and sent to a neighbor, friend, enemy, stranger, etc... you have to donate $5 to the cause. We are grateful to be having Willis removed this afternoon but I think that Sarah's dolls will be sad that they can no longer have a cow ride :)

On our way back in this morning we made another discovery. Actually, Shadow did. I am just glad I got to it before he destroyed it...

After more exploring of the cracks and crevaces of our front porch we discovered the baby :) So sweet...he was hiding...I don't blame him after seeing that giant nose at your front door!

Good Mornings

Every just have one of those mornings where you wake up happy and it only gets better? I am still on cloud 9 after learning that the dress that I made for Sarah's birthday was posted on the Modkids Boutiqe blog! I went to bed grinning about it and woke up the same way.

I took a few pics this morning of the kiddos and a few critters...

I am wondering if that front tooth is every going to come out!

We had a very serious talk about how we need to do our best to keep our clothes clean and hole free! We'll see how that goes...

Check out the filter on this photo! Doesn't it just make those colors POP!

Good morning Mr. Spider.

How would you like to live here? :)

Buzz, buzz little carpenter bee...please don't eat my house! My husband sticks sticks in the holes that they literally chew out of the wood but they just make more!

Just a rose :)

Just another manic Monday...oh oooo oh...

I don't know why I thought that this Monday would be any different than any other Monday. Maybe because the dew on the grass tickled my feet this morning as I took my daily trip to the mail box? Dewy grass tickling your feet first thing in the morning should be enough magic to change any Manic Monday into something else... Or maybe the dew was just reminding me to stay on my toes... Does dew know what kind of day you are going to have?

Today I started unpacking the Soiree precuts that I ordered last week. It is so sad to me that this line is almost out of print. Such a gorgeous collection deserves a long life in my opinion. But those are the rules that Moda lives by and I am sure that they have their purpose. But alas, the Soiree Charm packs are sold out and the bundles too. I guess I will have to tuck mine away for a day brightener the next time I need one. Here are some pics of the beauties...

This is a dress I designed last week. Sarah is wearing it to school tomorrow. Lets hope she doesn't get it filthy. I used a Honey Bun from Moda, which are strips of fabric that are 1.5" wide by 44" long, to create the bias binding and straps. Not the best picture but, you can see how beautiful the collection is.

One lazy Sunday

Today I spent most of the day on the computer. In Etsy, You Can Make This, Michael Miller, etc... Searching for inspiration of things to sew. Got lost in blog land, facebook, and twitter and now have decided to start my own blog!
